World Music Contest - here we come!

Det er lenge siden SJK har vært på utenlandstur, men nå er vi godt i gang med planlegging av tur til sommeren! Nylig fikk vi vite at korpset er tatt opp som deltakere i World Music Contest (WMC) som foregår i Kerkrade, Nederland, sommeren 2012! Etter å ha sendt inn opptak av korpset, sammen med blant annet liste over oppnådde resultater i NM, så har vi passert nåløyet og vi skal delta i "First division" i WMC 13. juli 2013.

WMC Kerkrade arrangeres hvert fjerde år. I 2009 deltok ca. 21 000 musikanter og festivalen hadde ca. 750 000 besøkende! I 2013 foregår festivalen fra 4. til 28. juli. Her er litt informasjon om konkurransen:

Concert Contests:

Music by the world most talented bands. The highest level of musicianship. And all competing for the WMC WorldTtitles. These are the main ingredients for our concert contests, attended and enjoyed by thousands of visitors.

Contest sections:

All concert contests are divided into three different sections, Harmony, Brass Band and Fanfare. 

Categories

All main sections are divided into categories which recognize the artistic level of the participant. The highest category of Harmony and Fanfare is the Concert Division, followed by First, Second and Third Division.

Test pieces

All participating bands are obliged to play a test piece, several of which have been commisioned by WMC Kerkrade or for WMC Kerkrade by Kunstfactor and MUI Arnhem. World renowned composers are working to finish these pieces right now.

Own Choice piece

In addition, contestants play either an own choice piece or a full concert program. Of course, the choice of these is not entirely free, because the music has to fit the chosen division.

Jury

In the end, an independent jury will determine, which participant has done best. These participants in each section and category will be our next World Champions.  Her kan du gå inn for å lese mer om konkurransen
